"Devotions" is a word with about as much sizzle as "Montgomery Ward." It just sounds dated. It also implies that the thrust of the Christian life should be primarily religious and otherworldly.
We at Robinwood believe strongly in the supernatural realm and the power that flows from the Kingdom, which is a spiritual reality.
But we don't see our daily spiritual check-in as being in a different life-drawer from relationships, money, jobs/vocations, health and emotions.
Jesus came to dwell in the flesh and the Word has to become flesh in our lives too.

THE SON OF MAN
We bought a big Montgomery Wards 1930's era wooden radio console at an estate sale. The kind with the lit-up AM dial.
It was black.
With a little inspection, we realized that underneath the paint was beautiful grained wood.
It was the most striking furniture piece for all of our early marriage.
So it was with the term "Son of Man" in the Bible.
Just a black painted old religious term that meant nothing to me.
Jesus seemed to refer to himself as the Son of Man.
So what?
Then I looked at Daniel 7:13.
And the paint started to come off the term.
The Son of Man, in the book of Daniel, comes before the Ancient of Days (God on the throne) and is given eternal power and authority over all the nations of the earth.
And then a light went on.
That's why Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man.
And that's why the religious people wanted to kill him.
Don't take for granted the well-worn phrases in the Bible.
Underneath the black paint, might be….
